Bedroom, Bed in Hôtel de France Gare de Lyon Bastille
Easy to find, 5 mins walk from Gare de Lyon railway station. Modern fairly new facade. Looks like a refurbished building with modern decor. Pleasant staff on arrival and throughout. Small entrance but seating available if waiting leading to the breakfast area. Lift to all floors, clear signs everywhere. The bedroom was clean and well presented. Separate toilet and shower/wash rooms. Be aware that the automatic light in the toilet is on a short timer, so I had to move arms about when using or light went off. It's funny but a bit of a shock on the first time that happened. The shower/wash room had modern fittings and twin head shower heads. Tea/coffee in the room with a mini fridge with free water. This was very welcome. Our room had a double bed plus bedsettee. TV, clothes hangers and small desk area. It is very well equipped for the size of the room. Suited us, a middle-aged couple perfectly. The bed was very comfortable and a choice of pillows was really good. I particularly liked the square one. Breakfast paid for on arrival was available up to 10.30 am (check out 11.00), so lazy Sunday morning was ok. There was cooked food sausage, egg, beans, etc. A continental choice too of hams, cheese, fruits, etc. Plus pastries and choice of yoghurts. Something for every taste. Overall, having had a disappointing experience staying the night before at the 5* St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London the night. I am so happy I chose the Hotel de France Gate de Lyon Bastille for my overnight stay in Paris. I would happily give a deserves 5* grade and would be happy to recommend it to others.

I travelled with my daughter and stayed 5 nights in this hotel. It was everything we needed. Small, cosy, very clean, quiet. We didn't hear any other guests. It is on the road so expect to hear the traffic. The room was just like on the pictures when you book it. The staff was excellent. I don't remember their names but every single person was lovely and helpful xxx The toiletries were lovely and left you smelling hotel clean. The hairdryer was just good. We didn't eat at the hotel as plenty of boulangeries around and lovely bistros. The location was excellent! 30mins walk to Notre Dame! Close to a metro station and the train station. No dodgy characters, it felt safe for us. You do need to pay a deposit on arrival, something I didn't see when booking but this was not an issue for me and it was expected as most hotels do it now. You also need to pay the city tax. I'm a hotel snob and usually stay in 5* but this cute little place exceeded my expectations x I'm looking to come back next year.

We booked this hotel as a base location, somewhere to sleep, while we explored Paris for the first time. Room was exactly as described and as pictured. Clean on arrival, and cleaned daily. There are stairs and an elevator, so easily accessible to our 3rd floor room. Bed side tables had USB charging points for mobile phone cable which was useful. Our room was facing the road - there was some background noise as you would expect, but it did not disturb us. Our twin room was cosy, with comfy beds, long mirrors, small desk and a wardrobe. Really friendly staff who are on reception 24/7. Literally a 5 minute walk from Gare de Lyon, which has great connections across the city. We stayed on a room only basis so cannot comment on the breakfast - there are boulangeries nearby and also coffee shops inside the station. Would happily stay here again!

Due to a missed connection we had to spend the night in Paris to wait for our train back home. We arrived at Gare de Lyon late at night, and were very happy with the location of this hotel. The staff was very friendly welcoming us, despite the late time of our arrival. The room immediately felt very comfortable and we had no problem falling asleep quickly. The next morning we had to go to Gare du Nord for our train, and the connection by metro was also perfect. Just a short walk down to the metro station. Although we only used the hotel room for a very short period, during which we were asleep almost the entire time, our stay was very pleasant. The room was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. All in all a great place to stay in between trains.

The hotel's location makes it easy to explore the city’s iconic landmarks, while the clean, well-maintained rooms ensure a comfortable stay. Very nice restaurants are nearby. The view outside the windows was nice. The staff are kind and always ready to assist with a smile. The interior design is beautifully done and the room looks exactly like in the photo. We took a small standard room but it was very well suited.
